Progettazione : Studio Gaia (NYC - U.S.)
Apertura : 2005

Opened at a time when big nightclubs were beginning to dominate Manhattan nightlife once again, hip-hop star and music mogul Jay-Z wanted to create his own destination, the 40/40 club. Located in New York’s Flatiron district, the 40/40 club is Studio GAIA’s version of what a modern sports bar should be. Instead of hip-hop hedonism and the typical bling-bling materials, the studio gave the space a dark and seductive tone that looks more like a Miami nightclub than the ESPN Zone.
Floor-to-ceiling poles suspend flat-screen monitors and Studio GAIA egg chairs in the open lounge area, while bleacher-like steps create seating for a larger audience. Private booths tucked away to the alternate side of the bleachers ensure that the sport of spectatorship is not only happening on screen, but within the space as well.
